Stud Welding Stud welding is a specialised and highly effective method for joining studs and other fasteners to sheet metals. When the electrodes get too hot, heat marks on the surface of the work pieces can form. As the name implies, the heat generated by the weld power is a result of the material's resistance to the flow of electrical current.

The choice of current and polarity depends on the process, the type of electrode, the arc atmosphere, and the metal being welded. Resistance welding is a process used to join metallic parts with electric current.
